Hole 17 - Buchtknowe

A “bucht” is now a general term for a sheepfold. “The sheepfold on the hill”. There may be some connection with the “Witches’ Knoll” as according to old Border’s superstition the bucht door should always be shut at night as if it is left open witches and fairies will dance in it all night.

Pro Tip

Only down the middle will do on this well bunkered fairway. Allow one club extra on the uphill approach to a long green.
